JAMES HENRY5 ADAMS (Levi Franklin4, John3, Elijah2, Solomon1) was born November 4, 1849 , in Macon County, Tennessee, the third child of Levi Franklin Adams [1824-1898] and Nancy Jane (Warner) Adams. His mother is buried in Row A; however, his father is buried in Lindley Prairie Cemetery near Bear Creek, Cedar County, Missouri. His ancestry has been traced to the first patriarch of the family Solomon Adams who was born in 1727 in the North Carolina Colony and died in 1821 in what is now Macon County, Tennessee. He moved to Cedar County, Missouri, about 1860 with his parents and siblings where on February 20, 1870, he married LOUISA STRANGE. They lived in Madison Township southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri, in the Masters community. Several years later they lived in Morgan Township, Dade County, Missouri. He died at the age of 62 on Monday, May 6, 1912, and was buried next to his wife.
LOUISA2 (STRANGE) ADAMS (Joseph Strange1) was born about 1853 in Cedar County, Missouri, daughter of Joseph Strange [1821-1856] and Sarah (McGuffey/Maguffie) Strange. Her parents were married October 1, 1843, in Roane County, Tennessee, and came to Cedar County in the 1850's. LOUISA married JAMES HENRY "J.H." ADAMS, February 20, 1870, in Cedar County living in the Masters community for several years. They were blessed with seven children. They were living in Morgan Township, Dade County, Missouri, in the 1900 Federal Census. She passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 1905. Her tombstone has age about 53 yrs.

EMILY JANE6 (ADAMS) RICHARDSON (James Henry Adams5, Levi Franklin Adams4, John Adams3, Elijah Adams2, Solomon Adam1) was born June 5,1871, in Madison Township, Cedar County, Missouri. On January 24,1889, she married WILLIAM "CARROLL" RICHARDSON in Cedar County. Sometime between 1894/1899, they moved to Illinois. Their little son, Frank Richardson, was born in 1899 and died in 1902 in Hamilton County. Her husband, CARROLL, was born January 28, 1861, in Tennessee, son of Elijah Alexander "E.A." Richardson and Catherine (Haley) Richardson. His untimely death was on Wednesday, September 7, 1904, at the age of 43 in Hamilton County and was buried with their little son, Frank, in the Olive Branch Cemetery. After the death of her husband, EMILY and children moved back to Missouri settling in Dade County. She passed away on New Year's Day, January 1, 1937, at the age of 65 near Arcola, Missouri, with pneumonia.

WALTER3 RICHARDSON (William "Carroll"2, Elijah Alexander "E.A."1) was born May 2,1WALTER3 RICHARDSON (William "Carroll"', Elijah Alexander "E.A."') was born May 2,1893, in Cedar County, Missouri, the third child of Carroll Richardson [1861-1904] and Emily Jane (Adams) Richardson. He was just a few years old when his parents decided to move to Hamilton County, Illinois. His father died in 1904 and is buried there with his little brother, Frank Richardson. After the death of his father, he moved back to Missouri with his mother and siblings and settled in Dade County. He was in charge of the Floyd Sloan farm near Arcola and had lived alone since the death of his mother in January 1937. He never married and was said to be of a quiet disposition. His untimely death came early Tuesday morning, May 3, 1938, on the farm the day after his 45th birthday.
ROLLIE3 RICHARDSON (William "Carroll"2, Elijah Alexander "E.A."1), the fourth child of seven children of Carroll and Emily Jane (Adams) Richardson, was born September 15, 1895. He moved to Illinois with his parents and siblings and lived a few years in Hamilton County. His father died September 7, 1904, and is buried in Olive Branch Cemetery with his little brother, Frank Richardson. After the death of his father, he moved back to Missouri with his mother and siblings and settled near Arcola in Dade County. He had been admitted to the State Hospital No. 3 in Nevada, Missouri, where he passed away on Saturday, September 5, 1936, just ten days before his 41st birthday. He is buried between his mother and brother, Walter Richardson.
ALONZO "Lon"2 CAMPBELL, (Wilbur/Wilbum1), was born October 4, 1879, at Grant City, Worth County, Missouri, son of Wilbur/Wilburn and Mary (Hogue) Campbell. When about the age of three, he moved with his parents to Christopher, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. As a young man, he moved to Oklahoma and in later years moved to Cedar County, Missouri, where he spent the rest of his life. He married ROSE MARY (WALLEN) GASSETT, April 30, 1908, in Gage, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edward H. Wallen [1860-1943] and Mary D. Bishop [1861- 1935] Wallen who are buried in Gum Springs Cemetery on Highway 39 south of Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri. ALONZO died at his home near Stockton on January 4, 1956, at the age of 76. He was the last remaining member of his family of four brothers and two sisters. He is buried next to his brother, Truman. His wife, ROSE MARY CAMPBELL [1884-1957], is buried with her family in Gum Springs Cemetery.

TRUMAN2 CAMPBELL (Wilbur/Wilburn1) was born November 11, 1877, in Worth County, Missouri, son of Wilbur/Wilburn and Mary (Hogue) Campbell, and a brother to Alonzo Campbell. When he was about three years old, he moved to Christopher, Illinois, with his parents and family. When a young man, he moved to Oklahoma for awhile then decided to locate in Marshall, Arkansas, until about 1945, when he came to the farm near Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri. TRUMAN never married and was a farmer. He passed away at his home on Friday, September 8, 1950, at the age of 72.
BRANTLEY NEHRI4 DAVIS (William3, James2, John1) was born October 16, 1850, in Cedar County, Missouri, the eleventh child of the fourteen children born to William Davis (1810-1898] and Susannah Groves [1809-18951 Davis. His parents were married December 11, 1832, in Knox County, east Tennessee. They migrated to Missouri in 1839 settling in Cedar County (then Polk County). They are buried in Trimble Cemetery located in Madison Township three and one- half miles southwest of Fair Play, Polk County, Missouri. BRANTLEY married LAURINDA CLEMENTINE HARTLEY, January 31, 1875, in Cedar County, Missouri. In the CEDAR COUNTY REPUBLICAN newspaper, January 3, 1896, Brantley Davis is the possessor of a new buggy house, WHAT'S NEXT BRANDT? BRANTLEY and LAURINDA lived in the Masters community for over 46 years where he passed away on Thursday, January 31, 1924, at the age of 73 of an illness of nine days.
 
LAURINDA CLEMENTINE3 (HARTLEY) DAVIS (Richard Hartley2, James Hartley, Sr.1), the fourth child of the eleven children of Richard and Almira T. (Underwood) Hartley, was born January 27, 1855, in Masters, Madison Township, Cedar County, Missouri. Her parents donated the land for this Hartley Cemetery and are buried in Row B. She united in marriage with BRANTLEY NEHRI DAVIS, January 31, 1875. They were blessed with a daughter and 12 wonderful grandchildren; however, two died young. BRANTLEY died January 31, 1924. LAURINDA lived three years after the death of her husband and died of pneumonia on Monday, February 28, 1927, at age 72 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Minnie and Lee Greer, in the Masters community. She is buried next to her husband in a square cement-curb plot for just the two of them. They share a beautiful double tombstone.

ISREAL THOMAS2 FRENCH (Isreal, Sr.1) was born July 22, 1867, in Dade County, Missouri, son of Isreal and Didama C. French. His parents were pioneers of Kentucky and among the early settlers of Dade County. He married ANNA DEE FUNK, February 11, 1898. She was born January 19, 1878, and died July 3, 1956. He was a retired farmer in Masters and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and truly lived up to its principles and precept. "Dink", as he was called, died at his home in Masters, Madison Township, Cedar County, Missouri, on Monday, January 13, 1941, at age 73. He was the last remaining member of his parent's large family.

NOTE.- HIS NAME, ISREAL, IS SPELLED THIS WAY ON HIS TOMBSTONE.
 
ANNA DEE (FUNK)2 FRENCH (Burton Funk1) was born January 19, 1878, in Missouri, the second child of Burton and Luvina Minerva (Stockton) Funk. Her parents were married December 28, 1876, in Dade County, Missouri. They were living in Grand Pass, Saline County, Missouri, in 1880. She united in marriage with ISREAL THOMAS "Dink" FRENCH, February 11, 1898. He was born July 22, 1867, and died January 13, 1941. She lived 15 years after the death of her husband and passed away on Thursday, July 3, 1956, at the age of 78 at her home in Masters, Madison Township rural Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri. She shares a double tombstone with her husband.

RETHA LUCILE3 (FRENCH) WEST (Isreal Thomas French2, Isreal French, Sr.1) was born November 29, 1899, in Missouri, the first child of lsreal Thomas "Dink" and Anna Dee (Funk) French. She started teaching in the year 1916 at the Hartley School in Masters southwest of Fair Play, in Cedar County, Missouri. On March 30,1927, she married HOWARD CHESTER WEST in Stockton, Missouri. After the death of her mother in July 1956, her siblings, Pearl and Sherman French, came to live with her and her husband. RETHA lived almost five years after her husband died. She passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 1984, at age 84 in the Stockton Nursing Home. She shares a double tombstone with her husband.
HOWARD CHESTER2 WEST (Chancey1) was born March 11, 1888, in Madison Township rural Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri, the first child of Chancey West [1858-1918] and Florence Wright [1872-1951] West. His parents are buried in Lindley Prairie Cemetery near Bear Creek, Cedar County. HOWARD married his sweetheart, RETHA LUCILLE FRENCH, March 30,1927, in Stockton, Missouri. He was a retired farmer and passed away on Monday, September 24, 1979, at age 91 in the Stockton Nursing Home in Stockton. Funeral services were held at Brumback Chapel in Stockton with graveside Masonic rites held by the Fair Play Lodge 44 AF & AM of which he was a member. He shares a double tombstone with his wife.

PEARL3 FRENCH (Isreal Thomas2, lsreal, Sr.1) was born December 2, 1900, in Madison Township, Cedar County, Missouri, the second child of lsreal Thomas "Dink" and Anna Dee (Funk) French. PEARL never married and lived at home with her parents. After her mother died on July 3, 1956, she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Retha and Howard West. Later, she lived in the Stockton Nursing Home in Stockton, Missouri, where she passed away Monday, January 15, 1990, at age 89. She was the last remaining member of her family. Graveside services were held on Thursday, January 18, 1990.
TABITHA3 "Biatha" FRENCH (Isreal Thomas2, lsreal, Sr.1) was born November 27, 1904, in John Day, Oregon, the third child of lsreal Thomas "Dink" and Anna Dee (Funk) French. She contracted chronic bronchitis in about the year 1922 while going to and from high school in Bear Creek, Cedar County, Missouri, and was never able to overcome this stubborn malady. TABITHA, "Biatha" as she was called, never married and lived at home with her parents in Masters southwest of Fair Play in Cedar County. She passed away at home on Wednesday, November 28, 1934, the day after her 30th birthday.
SHERMAN3 THOMAS FRENCH, (Isreal Thomas2, lsreal, Sr.1), the fourth and last child of lsreal "Dink" and Anna Dee (Funk) French, was born June 7, 1914, in the state of Montana where his parents had moved to farm and to raise sugar beets. Later, they moved back to Cedar County, Missouri, and lived in Masters southwest of Fair Play. SHERMAN never married and lived at home until his mother passed away on July 3, 1956. He then went to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Retha and Howard West. He entered the St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where he died on July 28, 1971, at age 57. He is buried next to his parents.

BESSIE REDWING4 WALLEN (Henry Hall3, Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1) was born October 11, 1911, in Cedar County, Missouri, the first child of Henry Hall "H.H. & Harry" and Lee Ora (Williams) Wallen, and the eleventh child for Harry. Her parents are buried in this cemetery in ROW 0. BESSIE spent most of her life in Cedar County. She became ill about three weeks before her passing at her home in Greenfield, Missouri, with typhoid fever. Her condition became so serious that she was taken to the Baptist Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where she passed away on Thursday, September 2, 1943, at age 31 years and ten months old. Funeral services were held at the Oak Grove Church in Masters rural Fair Play, Cedar County. She is buried next to her little brother, Marvin Marion Wallen.

MARVIN MARION4 WALLEN (Henry Hall3, Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1) was born April 15, 1929, in Masters southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri, and died April 16, 1930, at the age of one year and one day old, the thirteenth child of fifteen children born to Henry Hall "H. H. & Harry" and Lee Ora (Williams) Wallen. His parents are buried in this cemetery in Row 0. Little Billy, as he was called, was a bright, sweet little fellow and was loved by all that knew him and was as healthy as anyone could wish until he contracted whooping cough and was never able to get over this stubborn malady. He is buried next to his sister, Bessie R. Wallen. On his tombstone: HE WALKED ON EARTH A SHORT WHILE, NOW HE IS WALKING WITH JESUS
 
FRANCIS GILBERT "F.G."2 WALLEN (Ebenezer P.1) was born on Friday, May 26, 1837, in Salem County, New Jersey, son of Ebenezer P. Wallen and Hannah (Miller) Wallen. His parents were married in New Jersey, July 1, 1829, and are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Cumberland County, New Jersey. He married the love of his life, DEBORAH D. ERNST, March 25, 1860, in Salem County where their first three children were born. They moved to Missouri about 1872. In October 1880, they bought land in the Umber community north of Cane Hill in Cedar County. Later they bought 280 acres southwest of Masters, Cedar County, but near the Dade County, Missouri, line where they spent the rest of their lives. He was a farmer and died on Tuesday, March 12, 1901, at the age of 63.

DEBORAH D.2 (ERNST) WALLEN (William Ernst1) was born in the state of Pennsylvania on Monday, September 25, 1837, daughter of William and Ann Ernst. She married her sweetheart, FRANCIS GILBERT "F.G." WALLEN, March 25,1860, and lived several years in Salem County, New Jersey. In about 1872, they moved to Cedar County, Missouri, with their three sons. Their other two children were born in Missouri. Her husband died on March 12, 1901. She lived four years after the death of her husband and passed away on Monday, August 28, 1905, at the age of 67. She is buried next to her husband on the north end of the cemetery. They share a beautiful double tombstone.

FRANK M.3 WALLEN (Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1), the second child of Francis Gilbert "F.G." and Deborah D. (Ernst) Wallen, was born March 8, 1862, in Salem County, New Jersey. When he was just a baby, someone was carrying him while walking on a shipping dock. They fell through which resulted in breaking Frank's back making him an invalid. About 1872, he moved with his parents and two brothers to the state of Missouri finally settling in the southwest part of Madison Township in Cedar County near the Dade County line. He lived with his parents until they passed away and then lived with his brother, Allen D. Wallen, and his family on the family farm. He died May 20/21, 1909, at age 37, and was buried on Saturday, May 22, 1909, next to his parents.
 
MARY JANE3 WALLEN (Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1), the only daughter and last child of five children of Francis Gilbert "F.G." and Deborah D. (Ernst) Wallen, was born March 9, 1878, in Cedar County, Missouri. Mamie, as she was called, spent her entire life in Cedar County and never married. She lived at home with her parents until they passed away. She remained living on the family farm with her brother, Allen D. Wallen, and his family. About 1932, her family built her a home next to her brother, Harry Wallen, and his family located where the parking lot for the Masters Boat Ramp is today on Stockton Lake. She lived in this home until she went to live with her brother, Edward "Ed" H. Wallen, after his wife, Mary D. (Bishop) Wallen, passed away on November 30, 1935. She died at age 59 at Ed's home on Thursday, April 22, 1937, in the Umber community north of Cane Hill, Cedar County, Missouri.
 

ROW I

FREDRICK KELLING was born about 1833 in Prussia/Germany, one of nine children. He came to America in 1843 at the age of nine with an aunt and uncle and in 1867 became a United States citizen. On May 24, 1861, he joined the army during the Civil War and was discharged on July 31, 1861. He united in marriage with MRS. SARAH ELIZABETH (McGEE) NOTTINGHAM in Cedar County, Missouri. There is no date on their marriage license; however, it was recorded on February 5,1870. They were living in Benton County, Missouri, in 1880. SARAH was born about 1842 in Indiana and died about 1882. It is not known where she is buried. Later, FREDRICK and children moved back to Cedar County. In the 1900 Federal Census of Cedar County, FREDRICK was living with his son, Henry and daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Landers) Kelling, in Madison Township. He doesn't have an identifiable tombstone in this cemetery. However, according to his granddaughter, Leona Beach, of Arcola, Missouri, he died about 1902/1903 and is buried near his son, Henry.

WILLIAM "HENRY"1 KELLING (Fredrick1870-1941) was born April 30,1870, in Benton County, Missouri, the first child of Fredrick and Sarah Elizabeth (McGee) Kelling. On June 27, 1891, he married CYNTHIA ELLEN LANDERS in Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri. To this union five children were born; two of whom died young. CYNTHIA was born April 16,1872,in Missouri and died on Wednesday, February 20, 1901, at the age of 28 (believed to be in childbirth), at their home near Cane Hill, Cedar County, Missouri. She is buried in Fullerton Cemetery in Dade County, Missouri, with her family. After the death of his wife, HENRY married VIRGINIA J. SLEDD, September 12, 1901, in Cedar County. At the time of this marriage, she had a daughter, IMA JEAN, born about 1897. VIRGINIA was born September 1, 1872, and died September 27, 1939. HENRY'S untimely death came on Tuesday, February 18, 1941, at the age of 70 at this home in Masters, Madison Township, Cedar County. He shares a double tombstone with his wife, VIRGINIA.
VIRGINIA J.2 (SLEDD) KELLING (Marion Sledd1) was born September 1, 1872, in Franklin County, Missouri, daughter of Marion Sledd [1839-1925] and Eliza C. Bell [1845-1929] Sledd. Her parents are buried in Liberty Cemetery, Cedar County, Missouri. Jennie, as she was called, moved with her parents to Cedar County, Missouri, while yet in her girlhood and on September 12, 1901, married WILLIAM "HENRY" KELLING. Prior to this marriage she had a daughter, IMA JEAN, born about 1897. Jennie died in Cedar County at the home of her husband's niece, Mrs. Sarah Barnett, September 27, 1939, at the age of 67, following a stroke of paralysis which occurred the previous Sunday while she was visiting in the home. She shares a double tombstone with her husband.

EDNA LEONA3 (KELLING) WALLEN (William "Henry" Kelling2, Fredrick Kelling1) was born January 25, 1908, in Masters, Cedar County, Missouri, daughter of William "Henry" and Virginia J. (Sledd) Kelling. On July 27,1925, she united in marriage with WALTER LINDEN WALLEN in Stockton, Missouri. WALTER was born July 10, 1906, in Masters, son of Henry Hall "H.H. & Harry" and Mary G. "Geneva" (Lynch) Wallen, who are buried in Row 0. EDNA and WALTER lived on a farm northwest of Cane Hill in Cedar County. Ten days after the birth of their last child, EDNA became suddenly ill. She passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 1935, at age 26. WALTER found the perfect mother for his Children, Ressie Irene (Turner) Baumgardner. They were married March 31, 1937, in Abilene, Texas, with all five daughters attending their wedding. WALTER died at age 73 of a heart attack on Sunday, December 2, 1979. He is buried with Ressie in the beautiful Stockton Cemetery, Stockton, Missouri.

LOTTIE K.3 KELLING (William "Henry"2, Fredrick1) was born November 15, 1910, in Madison Township, Cedar County, Missouri, daughter of William "Henry" and Virginia J. (Sledd) Kelling. She died at the age of eight and one-half years old on Sunday, May 25, 1919, and is buried next to her parents with a beautiful tombstone.
Infant3 KELLING (William "Henry"2, Fredrick1) was born in Madison Twp., Cedar County, infant daughter of William "Henry" and Virginia J. (Sledd) Kelling. Her birth and death dates are unknown; however, she is mentioned in both of her parents obituaries. She does not have an identifiable tombstone; however, there are two field rocks in this short row with her parents-one is believed to be hers and the other one is believed to be her grandfather's, Fredrick Kelling.

DELBERT LEE5 WALLEN (Shelby "Floyd"4, Henry Hall3, Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1), infant son and third child of the six children of Shelby "Floyd" and Willie "Elaine" Davis [1921-1969] Wallen, died at birth May 1, 1941, in Missouri (probably in Dade County). His parents were married May 23, 1936, in Cedar County, Missouri. His mother is buried in the Ceres Cemetery, Ceres (near Modesto), California. When little Delbert was buried, his mother planted a small bush beside him. His little sister, Diane Linn Wallen, is buried on the other side of the bush. On his tombstone: OUR SLEEPING ANGEL, SAFE WITH JESUS
 
DIANE LINN5 WALLEN (Shelby "Floyd"4, Henry Hall3, Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1), infant daughter and fifth child of the six children of Shelby "Floyd" and Willie "Elaine" Davis [1921-1969] Wallen, died at birth June 5, 1950, on the Fred Wilson farm north of Greenfield, Dade County, Missouri, where her father was employed. Her parents were married in Cedar County, Missouri, May 23, 1936. Later, they moved to California. Her mother is buried in the Ceres City Cemetery near Modesto. Diane is buried on the north side of the bush that her mother planted in 1941 for her little brother, Delbert Lee Wallen, who is buried on the south side. On her tombstone: OUR SLEEPING ANGEL, SAFE WITH JESUS
RAY SHASTAL/SHESTAL was in the Masters area southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri, working for food when he died. Nothing is known of him and there is a question on the spelling of his last name. According to Donald Clemons, who has lived most of his life in Masters, he knew Ray and that he is buried in this row which is west of the lane with only a field rock and no identifiable information.
THOMAS L. MILLER died of congestion of the stomach on Thursday, August 6, 1903, at the home of Harry Wallen near Masters southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri. He was about 46 years of age and had lived the life of a bachelor. His place of birth was not known by anyone in this community. He had no relatives here. Graveside services were conducted by Rev. John A. McIntosh. He has no identifiable tombstone in this cemetery. His obituary indicates he is buried here. He may have a field rock and is believed to be buried in this row.
