GEORGE WASHINGTON2 ROBERTSON (James Henry1) was born September 29, 1895, in Crocker, Pulaski County, Missouri, son of James Henry and Eliza Jane (Keith) Robertson. He was a Corporal in the United States Army during World War I in Missouri which is on his tombstone. On September 23, 1921, he married MYRTLE GLADYS WALLEN in Cedar County, Missouri. To this union five daughters were born. They lived in Masters, Madison Township, Cedar County. He passed away at age 77 on Friday, October 27, 1972, in the Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. He is buried next to his wife under a fruitless mulberry tree and a beautiful red climbing rose bush on the east side of the cemetery. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
MYRTLE GLADYS4 (WALLEN) ROBERTSON
(Edward H. Wallen3, Francis Gilbert2, Ebenezer P.1) was born May 29, 1899,
(twin to Maude who died in infancy) in Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri, the
youngest child of six children of Edward "Ed" H. Wallen [1860-1943] and Mary
Dee Bishop [1861-1935] Wallen. Her parents are buried in Gum Springs
Cemetery south of Stockton on Highway 39. On September 23, 1921, she married
GEORGE WASHINGTON ROBERTSON in Cedar County. Myrtle gave the love and tender
care to her invalid husband the last three years of his life. He died
October 27, 1972. She lived almost two years after the death of her husband
and passed away on Friday, September 20, 1974, at age 75, in the Cox
Hospital in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. She is buried next to her

DOLLY "GRACE"3 (ROBERTSON) SMART
(George Washington Robertson2, James Henry Robertson1), the second child of
George and Myrtle Gladys (Wallen) Robertson, was born September 10, 1924, in
Cedar County, Missouri. She married MURL "KENNETH" HIX about 1939. Two
daughters were born to this union. They were later divorced. She was married
to ONA RAY SMART and a son, Billy, was born to this union. They were also
divorced. On December 19, 1975, she married JAMES GLEN SORRELL in Climax
Springs, Missouri. However, they took out their marriage license in Polk
County, Missouri. Grace was a resident of Humansville, Missouri, for 30
years. She died Sunday, December 20, 1992, at age 68, in the Citizens
Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri. Her tombstone next to her son,

WILLIAM "Billy" RAY2 SMART (Ona Ray1), the only child of Dolly "Grace" (Robertson) and Ona Ray Smart, was born April 22, 1967, in Osceola, St. Clair County, Missouri. He had attended the Humansville High School where he was a member of FFA and was a member of the Humansville Volunteer Fire Department. He was 17 and the driver of the fire department vehicle that was enroute to a grass fire on Route V three miles east of Humansville, Missouri, on Sunday, August 5, 1984, and was killed in the single vehicle accident. His services were held at the Murray Chapel in Humansville. He is buried next to his mother and grandparents, George and Myrtle Robertson. BENTLEY H.3 WALKER (Samuel Clater2, Thomas Hiram1), the third child of Samuel Clater Walker [1847-1933] and Edwinna Fleeman [1849-1921] Walker, was born March 27, 1875, in Madison Township, Cedar County, Missouri. His parents are buried in Bethel Cemetery located on Highway 245 southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County. He united in marriage with BERTHA HARTLEY, February 10, 1901, in Cedar County. Their only son, Earl N. Walker, died at 7 months old. BERTHA was born September 22, 1883, and died December 5, 1902. Several years later, BENTLEY married DORA HEAD, February 2, 1910. Fourteen children were born to this union. He passed away on Friday, August 10, 1962, at age 87 at a daughter's home in Bolivar, Missouri. DORA2 (HEAD) WALKER (John Head1) was born June 10, 1892, in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, daughter of John and Sarah Elizabeth (Green) Head. Her parents are buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On February 2, 1910, she married BENTLEY H. WALKER in Cedar County, Missouri. To this union fourteen children were born with three dying young. BENTLEY was born March 27, 1875, and died August 10, 1962. About 1965, she married LAWRENCE MOSELEY [1888-1972]. DORA was a resident of Polk County, Missouri, for 40 years. She was living in the Chastain Nursing Home in Buffalo, Dallas County, Missouri, at the time of her death. She died on Thursday, August 7, 1975, at age 83 and was buried next to her first husband, BENTLEY H. WALKER. BERTHA4 (HARTLEY) WALKER (Richard
Donathan Hartley3, Richard Hartley2, James Hartley, Sr.1), the first child
of the fourteen children of Richard Donathan "Buck" Hartley [1857-1945] and
Rebecca Maranda Elizabeth McCrory [1859-1939] Hartley, was born September
22, 1883, in Cedar County, Missouri. Her parents are buried in Fasken
Cemetery northeast of Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri. She married BENTLEY
H. WALKER, February 10, 1901, in Cedar County. Their only child Earl N.
Walker, died at seven months old. BERTHA died of consumption (tuberculosis)
at her home in Cedar County, on Friday, December 5, 1902, at age 19. On her
tombstone: Wife of B.H. WALKER Child of Bentley and Bertha (Hartley) Walker: + i. EARL N. WALKER 1901-1902 EARL N.4WALKER (Bentley H.3, Samuel Clater2, Thomas Hiram1), the only child of Bentley and Bertha (Hartley) Walker, was born November 23, 1901, in Cedar County, Missouri, and died June 23, 1902, at the age of seven months old of congestion of the stomach. A. C.4 WALKER (Bentley H.3, Samuel Clater2, Thomas Hiram1) was born September 21, 1913, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son of Bentley H. and Dora (Head) Walker. A.C. never married. He was living in Buena Park, Orange County, California, when he died on Friday, December 14, 1979, at age 66. He was brought back home to Cedar County, Missouri, where services were held on Friday, December 21, 1979. He is buried on the east side of the cemetery next to his parents. CHRISTINA ANN3 CRAIG (Raymond Clifford2, H.F.1), daughter of Raymond Clifford and Retha "Rosalie" (Robertson) Craig, was born February 1, 1952, in the Community Hospital in Windsor, Henry County, Missouri, while her mother was visiting her father who was stationed there while in the service. At this time her mother was living in rural Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri. Little Christina was ill and was taken to the Burge Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where she died on Thursday, May 8, 1952, at three months and eight days old. She is buried under a fruitless mulberry tree near her grandparents, George and Myrtle (Wallen) Robertson, who are buried in the next row, Row K. TRUMAN2 GRIFFIN (Rufus1) was born December 23, 1905, in Dade County, Missouri, the son of Rufus Griffin [1869-1943] and Mary Elizabeth Harvey [1868-1961] Griffin. His parents are buried in Shady Grove Cemetery located two and three-fourth miles northwest of Aldrich, Polk County, Missouri. TRUMAN married SALLIE LOUISA ALMYRA HARTLEY on January 14,1936, in Fair Play, Polk County. She was born May 2, 1911, and died December 7, 1995. TRUMAN was a well-known farmer and cattleman in the Fair Play area. He died on Sunday, August 3, 1986, at age 80 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, and was buried on Wednesday, August 6, 1986. SALLIE LOUISA ALMYRA4 (HARTLEY) GRIFFIN
(Solomon Underwood Hartley3, Richard "Dick" Hartley2, James Hartley Sr.1)
the fifth child and first daughter of seven children of Solomon Underwood
"Doc" and Mary Elizabeth (Adams) Hartley, was born May 2, 1911, in Masters,
Cedar County, Missouri. Her parents were married March 14, 1897, in Dade
County, Missouri. They are buried in Row F. SALLIE married TRUMAN GRIFFIN,
January 14,1936, in Fair Play, Polk County, Missouri. However, they took out
their marriage license in Cedar County, Missouri. He was born December 23,
1905, and died August 3, 1986. SALLIE lived by herself at their home
northeast of Fair Play until her health declined and then she went to live
in a nursing home. She passed away on Thursday, December 7, 1995, at age 84
in the Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility in Bolivar, Missouri. She
shares a beautiful double tombstone with her husband on the east side of the

THOMAS "Tom" OTHA4 HARTLEY (Solomon Underwood3, Richard2, James, Sr.1) was born on September 12, 1901, in Masters southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri, the third child of seven children of Solomon Underwood "Doc" and Mary Elizabeth (Adams) Hartley. His parents are buried in Row F. He married the girl of his dreams, BONNIE LEO BROYLES, August 15, 1932, in Stockton, Missouri. BONNIE was born April 8, 1911, and passed away on January 9, 1969. TOM was a retired farmer and a member of the Fair Play Masonic Lodge. He died on Saturday, November 25, 1972, at age 71, in the St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, after suffering a stroke. He was buried on Tuesday, November 28, 1972, next to his wife. They share a beautiful double tombstone. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
BONNIE LE02 (BROYLES) HARTLEY
(William "Edgar" Broyles1) was born in Cedar County, Missouri, April 8,1911,
daughter of William "Edgar" Broyles [1881-1934] and Maude Julia Massey
[1881-1951] Broyles. Her parents are buried in Lindley Prairie Cemetery near
Bear Creek, Cedar County, Missouri. On August 15, 1932, she united in
marriage with THOMAS "Tom" OTHA HARTLEY in Stockton, Missouri. TOM was born
September 12, 1901, and died November 25, 1972. Bonnie died of cancer on
Thursday, January 9, 1969, at her home in Masters rural Fair Play, Cedar
County. She shares a beautiful double tombstone with her husband on the east
side of the cemetery. Children of Thomas and Bonnie (Broyles) Hartley:

CHARLES GRANT2 NELSON (John1) was
born in Meade County, Kentucky, July 27, 1909, son of John Nelson and Bertha
Marie Polston [1 892-1924] Nelson. His mother is buried in Louisville,
Kentucky. He married EDITH BOWEN, and later they were divorced. Then he
married SELMA CHRISTINE BRECHT, May 25, 1947, in Strong City, Kansas.
Charles served his country in the U.S. Navy, MOMMA 2, during World War II.
He was a disabled veteran and died of cancer on Saturday, December 14, 1991,
at age 82 in Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri. He has a
beautiful tombstone and a veteran marker under the fruitless mulberry tree

MINNIE ELIZABETH4 (HARTLEY) WALLEN
(Solomon Underwood Hartley3, Richard Hartley2, James Hartley, Sr.1), the
sixth child of the seven children of Solomon Underwood "Doc" Hartley
[1872-1945] and Mary Elizabeth Adams [1876-1932] Hartley, was born August
15, 1913, in Masters southwest of Fair Play, Cedar County, Missouri. Her
parents are buried in this cemetery in Row F. On April 30,1941, she was
united in marriage with THOMAS "GILBERT" WALLEN in Polk County, Missouri.
She spent her entire life in Cedar and Polk County, Missouri, except for a
few months in California. She passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 1957,
at the age of 54 at her home near Humansville, Missouri. Funeral services
were held at the Union Point Church in Masters, Friday, September 6, 1957.

IS UNKNOWN MARY DANIELS was born in 1861 and died in 1882. She is listed in the "Cemetery Directory of Cedar County, Missouri" that was published in 1979 by the Historical Society as buried in this cemetery. Extensive research was done on MARY, but no information was found on her. She has no identifiable tombstone; however, she may have just a field rock as there are several in this cemetery. |

DONALD O'BRYANT CLEMONS was born near Masters on December 17, 1920 to John William [1897-1972] and Ruth Belle O'Bryant [1898-1988] Clemons. [John William and Ruth are buried at the Lindley Prairie Cemetery] He was a veteran of WW II and on March 31, 1947 married Janis Lavena TILLERY. They were the parents of one son, John Richard. Donald died at home January 6, 2005. |
