Charles R. Cox was born April 12, 1836, in Warren County, Kentucky. He married December 11, 1856, in Callaway County, Missouri to Nancy Angeline Freeman, born about 1840 in Missouri and died about 1882 in Cedar County, Missouri.  He then married Mrs. Lydia Mahala (Collins) Stall on March 27, 1883.

Obituary

   C. R. Cox, born in Warren County, Kentucky, April 12 1837, died at his home in El Dorado Springs, March 22, 1920.

He was married to Angeline Freeman, December 11, 1856. To this union were born nine children, four sons and five daughters. His wife died February 23, 1882. He was united in marriage to Mrs. L. M. Stall and to this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters. He was converted at the age of eighteen years and united with the Missionary Baptist church and was a faithful member and deacon of the Glade Springs Baptist church until death.

He leaves a wife, eleven children, forty grand children and thirteen great grandchildren and many friends to mourn his death.

Ten of the surviving children were with him during his last sickness, and his wife and eight children were at his bedside when he passed away. A short time before he died he called for a song, and while we were singing he rejoiced and tried to sing with us. Then he called the family to his bedside and made a good talk and said I am going home; meet me in heaven. Good-bye.

Uncle Charley Cox, as he was familiarly known, was a staunch Baptist,
always ready to contend earnestly for the faith. He loved God, he loved the church, he was a devoted husband and a loving father.

Our hearts are sad we miss him so much. Here the home ties oft are broken here is left the vacant chair. But in heaven we shall meet them, there will be no parting there. No tears will be falling, no hearts will be sad, no friends will be dying. Oh won't I be glad. No hearses in heaven in mournful array, the grave digger's shovel is now laid away.

The funeral sermon was preached by Eld. C. W. Wolfe at the Glade Springs meeting house, and the body was buried in the Oldham graveyard, there to sleep till the resurrection. "For the hour of his coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth." John, 5:28-9
