THOMAS CRAWLEY

Thomas Crawley born in Dade County, Missouri Feb. 13, 1859 (wrong date) came to Cedar County in 1890 where he married Miss Sarah J. Clark and settled on a farm near Ivy where he died of bronchial pneumonia Nov 23, 1916 age 57 yr. 9 months and 10 days.  He was the father of 5 children two girls, an three boys. The girls died in infancy, and the boys, Francis, Nelson and Finis Crawley and the companion were with him when the spirit took its flight from earth.  Interment was made in the Pankey Cemetery.  Elder A.M. Weaver rendered a short discourse at the grave where a large concourse of friends had met to pay their last respect to the deceased.  Besides the widow and three sons the deceased leaves one brother, David Crawley of Ivy; two half brothers, one half sister and a host of friends to his departure.  He was a member  of the West Union Baptist Church and lived a devoted Christian life.    He was a good husband, a kind father, a good neighbor, honest in all his dealings and a friend to all.  We know he has passed from death unto life because he loved the brethren".  Dearest father, thou hast left us, and our sorrow can't be told; But we know that we will meet you Over in that City of Gold
