In Memory Of J. J. Harris
A sweet spirit has ascended
Gone to reign with those above
Leaving many friends behind him
Mourning for his pure, sweet love.
Tenderly we watched his illness
   Breathlessly we caught the word
"Is father better?" was the question
But the answer could not be heard
Dearest father, thou has left us
Here thy loss we deeply feel
But 'tis God that has bereft us
He will all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee
   Where no farewell tears fell
There in heaven with joy to greet thee
   Dearest father, fare thee well.

                  Daughter, Effie Gaulding.
