AMOS KAUFFMAN
Amos Kauffman of Montevallo died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the home of a son, Arthur Kauffman, Emporia, Kas.
Mr. Kauffman, a son of Jacob and Susan Kauffman, was born May 24, 1872, at Shipshewana, Ind. He came with the family to Missouri when a small boy and has since resided here.
On Sept. 7, 1893, he was married to Lizzie May, daughter of John W. and Eliza May. Mrs. Kauffman died on Jan. 31, 1940. To this union nine children were born.
Two sons, Glen and Russell, preceded him in death. He is survived by four daughters and three sons: Chester L. Kauffman, Hutchinson, Kas.; T/Sgt. William J. Kauffman, Camp Hood, Texas; Arthur Kauffman, Emporia, Kas.; Mrs. Pearle Begley, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Grace Elder, Compton, Calif.; Mrs. Aleen Smalley, Bonning, Calif.; Miss Kathryn Kauffman, Kansas City. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, E. J. and C. C. Kauffman of Selma, Calif., and Henry Kauffman, Virgil City; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Montevallo Baptist church, of which he was a member, at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Virgil City cemetery.

Services For Amos Kauffman
Funeral services for Amos Kauffman, widely known and popular resident of Montevallo, who died January 11 at the home of his son, Arthur Kauffman, at Emporia, Kans., were held last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church in Montevallo, Rev. Clark of Nevada, officiating. Burial was in the Virgil City cemetery under the direction of the Gwinn-Siders funeral home.
Mr. Kauffman, who previously had been enjoying his usual health, died quite unexpectedly while visiting in his son's home, his death being attributed to a heart attack. The son of Jacob and Susan Kauffman, he was born at Shipshewana, Ind., May 24, 1872, and came with his family to Missouri when he was a small boy. He had resided here continuously since that time.

Kauffman, Selma, Calif., and Henry Kauffman of Virgil City, also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Kauffman was a prominent farmer southwest of El Dorado Springs for many years, but he retired from active work following the death of his wife and bought a home at Montevallo, where he resided when not visiting his children. He was one of the most highly esteemed citizens of this vicinity and his unexpected passing is a matter of deep sorrow to his neighbors and friends.
