Coal Hill School.  February 1927. Coal Hill was in the middle of the coal mines less than a mile from St. Clair County; nearby is Lebeck, Cedar Springs, and El Dorado Springs. Ralph Magnas was the last teacher, 1955.

Hall School.  Dec 5, 1900. Back Row on left, only person identified is Florence Evans.

 

 Hall School was 4 miles due north of Jerico Springs, more specifically, it lay about one-half mile northwest of the Hall Cemetery which is on the Wagoner Road between Wagoner and Highway 97.  The first records of this school are for the year 1895. The school had teachers and a board of directors until 1949.

Johnson School. 1911.  Johnson (or Johnston as some say it should be called) is located on Highway 39 across from Herriman's Church camp near Cedar Springs, from in the 1870s until 1953.

 

The second girl from the left at the back is Elsie Nora Worthington, great grandmother of Justin Neely who provided the picture. In her row, two over, is Alva (Messick) Neely.

Liberty School.  District 34 on Power Line Road. Teacher Connie Lockmiller.

Old Union School.

Stockton School c. 1895. Built in 1882.

White Hall School.  1917.

 

White Hall School was on the north side of White Hall Road about two miles east of Virgil City.  The last teacher was Lucille Phipps, 1949-51.

White Hall School.  1922-1923. This picture was in possession of Dennis Benskin who lived near the eight mile corner south of El Dorado Springs as a child.

Wright School.  Wright is a flat-land district north and mostly west of Filley. The last teacher was Norine Watts, 1950-53.
